About the Event

Since long before recorded history, the Winter Solstice and the subsequent “return” of the sun have inspired celebrations and rituals in various societies around the world.

Winter solstice marks the shortest day and longest night of the year.

When we look to live more closely connected to the rhythm of nature, we can see this as a time of abundant rest and introspection. Winter is the time to slow down, rest and release the hindrances of the past to prepare for the abundance coming in the next spring season.

This Winter Yin immersion will provide deep nourishment to the kidney and bladder organs in the body as the are governed by the winter season and they provide us with our vital energy. The vitality that we build throughout the colder and darker months provides the resilience and  buoyancy to truly benefit from the innovation and creativity that the spring and summer will bring.

Yin Yoga postures are more passive postures, mainly on the floor. Yin Yoga is unique in that you are asked to relax in the posture, soften the muscles and move closer to the bone. Yin offers a deeper access to the body.

This immersion will also embrace Sound medicine as channelled by Ruth Pirie, (Yoga & meditation teacher and Sound healer). Be immersed in a soundscape of different sound textures and vibrations to layer over the guided yin practice. The practcie will conclude with Sound Healing to support deep rest and integration.

What is Sound Medicine/ Sound Healing?

Sound medicine is a modality that has been used throughout time to support the healing processes within the physical, energetic and spiritual body.

The resonant vibrations of sound have a profound capacity to reach the cells of the body aiding the healing process and shifting brainwaves to access states of meditation or rest whilst rebalancing the nervous system. It can at times feel cathartic, rejuvenating and deeply restorative.

Ruth channels sound consciously and creates a safe wholesome container supporting you in remembering the felt sense of stillness, spaciousness, receptivity and your innate wholeness.

These practices are offered to provide a safe container for you to remember your wholeness and a felt sense of Being as opposed to needing to fix, heal or change parts of yourself.
