About the Event
Join us in the collective chant of 108 AUMS - gather alongside community and foster a heartfelt connection to yourself.
This evening will be an opportunity for you to gently land the body and heart into rest, presence.
Chanting gives space for you to experience deeper connection to your wholeness and the softness for the heart-mind field.
Support a re-calibration of the nervous system through the practice of chanting. It eases you into the rest, digest, rebuild, restore functions of the body as your nervous system starts to unwind.
Collective chanting can be a supportive way to find co-regulation within a safe space, whilst holding gratitude and acknowledgment of our individual and collective journeys.
You don’t have to chant, feel free to chant within and be held by the soundscape of your fellow community chanting beside you.
Following our collective chant there will be a Sound Bath, guided by Ruth to assist in the integration of the sacred chant.
* This evening will be by donation of $20, cash or card payment on the day - with 70% profits going to Local NFP "The Blue Butterfly Institute": A not for profit, volunteer run, organisation who advocate for victims and survivors of sexual trauma. Find out more here: https://www.thebluebutterflyinstitute.org.au
**RSVP Required, please, so we are aware of number of attendance**
* No previous yoga, meditation or chanting experience is required - All welcome!
A little about your guide, Ruth Pirie…
Ruth holds space for others to step into a deeper self-inquiry of their body and soul’s wisdom, whilst guiding them through nourishing conscious movement, breath work and meditation practices. She came to Yoga as she journeyed through Post-natal Depression and grief in her first years of motherhood. Yoga, mindfulness, meditation and breathwork soon became her baseline and anchor. Her teaching is non-judgmental, restorative and inviting.
Her journey has led her to sound and vibrational healing, exploring her innate wisdom and gifts which she shares joyfully with others to pave way for healing, openness and receptivity. Ruth channels sound consciously to help others find stillness and deep-rooted relaxation; guiding them to access their own soul's expression and return to wholeness.
Find out more about the significance of Aum and 108 below...
A U M is a mantra, a vibration, a visual symbol which can be both heard and spoken. Though this small mantra carries a multitude of meanings, the ancient text of the Mandukya Upanishad tells us that ‘Om is what has been, what is and what shall be’. Aum represents it all- the beginning, the middle and end, past present and future, it is the hum of the Earth and the true hum of the heart. Everything in the Universe is pulsating and vibrating, including you and I. In chanting Aum, our sound tunes into and acknowledges our connection to all other living beings, nature, universe. Its sound encompasses all sounds…
For many, the number 1 0 8 is a sacred number, its significance is open to interpretation. Traditionally, malas or prayer beads, come as a string of 108 beads, and are used for devotional meditation and mantra. With each bead a mantra or prayer is repeated to meet a total of 108. Mathematicians of Vedic culture viewed 108 as a number of the wholeness of existence. The average distance of the Sun and the Moon to Earth is 108 times their respective diameters. There are 108 sacred sites in India. The Chakras are the intersections of energy lines, and there are said to be a total of 108 energy lines converging to form the heart chakra….
What is Sound Medicine/ Sound Healing?
Sound medicine is a modality that has been used throughout time to support the healing processes within the physical, energetic and spiritual body.
The resonant vibrations of sound have a profound capacity to reach the cells of the body aiding the healing process and shifting brainwaves to access states of meditation or rest whilst rebalancing the nervous system. It can at times feel cathartic, rejuvenating and deeply restorative.
The faciltators channel sound consciously to create a safe wholesome container supporting you in remembering the felt sense of stillness, spaciousness, receptivity and your innate wholeness.
These practices are offered to provide a safe container for you to remember your wholeness and a felt sense of Being as opposed to needing to fix, heal or change parts of yourself.
