Ruth Pirie

Lead Teacher, Marma Therapy and Sound Healing, Studio Owner

I discovered yoga 13 years ago during early motherhood while navigating depression and grief. Through steady practice, I found gratitude, presence, strength, clarity, and self-awareness. Yoga connects me to my true essence, and I hope to offer others a safe space to experience its holistic benefits.

My teaching style is nurturing and inclusive, guiding students toward physical, mental, and spiritual growth. Classes integrate movement, breathwork, and meditation in accessible ways, leaving you energized, grounded, and restored. My approach is trauma-informed and mental-health-focused to promote healing.

Certified in Marma Therapy and Sound Healing, I incorporate sound practices to support relaxation and the body’s natural healing.

Beyond teaching, I’m a mother of two, inspired by joy and playfulness. I cherish life with my partner and seek growth through authentic connection, courage, and generosity. Nature is my sanctuary.

My intention is to provide a space where you can reconnect with yourself and nurture your authenticity.

The seed was planted when remedial yoga healed my back injury. I grew, as I continued to practice Iyengar Yoga for several years, until life and relocation took me away from regular practice. I discovered My Yoga Space several years ago where I was nurtured and encouraged through the practice. Here my growth continues in ways that still amaze me.

I felt ready to learn more as my curiosity grew, I wanted to understand why yoga has such healing and beneficial properties, so I studied My Yoga Teacher Training with Vivienne Dias at Yogavibe. I can feel my view of life and the way I live evolving as I develop deeper awareness and understanding of yogic philosophy, human anatomy, movement and breath, the postures and their inter-relationships.

I enjoy a dynamic, movement-based practice, but also like to create restful pools of calmness in which we can reflect, and discover, and connect with our inner true nature and beauty.

I look forward to welcoming you and supporting your practice.

Yoga has been part of my life for over 10 years, strengthening my mind, body, and relationships. Practiced deeply, yoga fosters fearlessness on and off the mat, inspiring mindful living.

With a background in sales and marketing, my goal is to help others rise into leadership with courage and vulnerability. Stepping out of my comfort zone in marketing, combined with yoga’s wisdom, has shown me where true transformation begins—where the mind meets the heart. Forever a student,

I’m deeply grateful for my teachers, especially Vivienne Diaz, who continues to inspire me. In my classes, I blend creative sequencing, courage, and inspiration to help deepen your practice. My hope is that you leave the mat feeling refreshed, nourished, and balanced.

Hi I’m Maria, and I am so grateful to be on this journey with you, sharing Yoga and just how much it can benefit your entire being. My aim is to bring the therapeutic benefits of conscious mindful movement into my classes to support your holistic development physically, mentally and emotionally.

As a late diagnosed Neurodivergent person, I am a passionate neuro-affirming educator and artist that wants to share with the world the importance of therapeutic movement and creativity. I have experienced firsthand in my own life the way yoga connects me to my heart as well as the impact this connection has on the way I experience myself, others and the world. I am a qualified 200hr Yoga teacher, with additional training into Yin yoga and I’ve also been a teacher for over 25 years, trained in Visual Arts, Learning and Support, Steiner/ Waldorf Education and Steiner Handwork.

I love all things to do with the ocean, surfing and swimming, hunting for beach treasure, camping, bush walking, my two Whippet dogs, I love being in community with people that I connect deeply with and most of all my husband and two amazing children.

I look forward to connecting with you and supporting you on the mat soon.

Yoga is way more than a physical practice for me. Yoga has been the backbone of my healing journey, and I would love to share its wonderful benefits with the you.

I found yoga online while I was sick and could do minimal movement. I later discovered that it didn’t just help my physical body but also improved my mental health. I quickly became obsessed and noticed it was the only thing that could calm my racing mind. Yoga personally helped me bring awareness to my breath and how important it truly is.

I will always be a student of the practice, and I genuinely fall in love with yoga every day. Through yoga asana practice, I love to explore rhythmic and intentional movement to cultivate a connection to the body. Staying true to my practice, I always aim for presence rather than perfection.

I look forward to welcoming you onto the mat soon!

I guide with creative flowing sequences to stretch and strengthen the body, coupled with breath-work, stillness, meditation and thought provoking ways yoga can support lifestyle. I am passionate about guiding others to enhance overall health, abundance and opportunity.

My first memory of Yoga is from my teenage years when my mum started Yoga classes and we spent many hours on the lounge room floor experimenting our bodies into Yoga postures, precious memories! I reconnected with Yoga, looking to find some peace from a hectic family life and corporate career and found it supported my mental health, emotional wellbeing and conditioned my muscles. My curiosity about Yoga peaked and I completed my 200hour Teacher Training in 2016 at My Yoga Space Thirlmere with the founder Angela Roberts.

I enjoy a diverse personal practise, including Vinyasa Flow, Yin, Meditation and Breath work. I take Yoga into my daily life in practical ways, by connecting to the elements through walking in nature, cooking with fire and growing vegetables organically and by self study through journaling and fibre art. My practise has supported me through grief, illness and menopause in positive ways and I am passionate about guiding others by drawing on my own experiences

I found yoga at a local gym with my mum, it was a time of stress when I was finishing high school. 8 years on and my love for all things yoga continues to increase by the day.

I have a 500hr yoga teacher diploma which I completed with The Yoga Institute. I am furthering my studies to one day become a yoga therapist to continue to create spaces of awareness, rest, connection, nourishment and healing.

I am a yoga teacher, social worker, daughter, partner, sister and friend. I am a lover of animals, nature and humans. I have supported many people in diverse communities. I have experienced the effects of trauma and anxiety. The practice of unifying my mind, heart, body, soul and breath has changed my life and sparked my healing journey.

My passion is sharing gentle, personalised, breath centred yoga for healing. I am always learning from each person I connect with.   I look forward to knowing you and holding space for you soon.

Today we stand in footsteps millennia old. May we acknowledge the traditional owners whose cultures and customs have nurtured, and continue to nurture, this land, since men and women awoke from the great dream. We honour the presence of these ancestors who reside in the imagination of this land and whose irrepressible spirituality flows through all creation.
